Artist
Biography
I am a Jamaican-based visual artist who specializes in telling unique stories predominantly via digital illustration. My personal work explores varying aspects of the queer experience from a Jamaican perspective. My most recent work portrays an alternate reality where gigantic, visibly queer folk show affection in commonly recognised places in Kingston, Jamaica and are not met with resistance by the general public.
Through my on-going practice, I am centered on the representation and celebration of black queerness within the Jamaican context. I aim to foster a sense of community through my illustrations, amplifying marginalized voices by normalizing depictions of joy and love.
During my childhood, I found the idea of creative expression fascinating and nurtured this interest during my teenage years, which expanded with the pursuit of a Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts in Visual Communication at the Edna Manley College of the Visual and Performing Arts in Jamaica, W.I.
